Has anyone used a local sleep consultant?

Considering sleep training for my 6mo, she used to be an amazing sleeper but for the last 2 months wakes anywhere up to 6 times a night, will only sleep for half an hour at a time during the day and fights sleeping in the cot to the point it rarely happens.
Has anyone used a local sleep consultant? Would you recommend one? How does it work?
